Don't like Unity? Hate it? Not your cup of coffee? Ubuntu does provide choices. There's GNOME Shell, KDE Plasma, Xfce, LXDE, and now MATE and Cinnamon. Take your pick

Standard Unity 11.04 with a different background. I wish I could remember where I found the wallpaper.

It is a good viewpoint to see the world as a dream. When you have something like a nightmare, you will wake up and tell yourself that it was only a dream...

I have that wallpaper too. I googled it for a while and found it under "Illuminate Ubuntu"

    Re: Jocular January Screen Shots

New screenshot of my desktop's Ubuntu 11.04 (GNOME desktop)... nothing much different:

    Full-size screenshot here:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...shotUbu10a.jpg

It's very much the same wallpaper, but after a few days of having it, I started to not like the abstract on the left that I had stretched vertically when I put the wallpaper together. So went back to my source image, resized it (keeping proportions), and redid the left side of the finished wallpaper. Not only that, I added a very transparent but still noticeable Forest Medallion in the background.

It was basically a classic case of perfectionism. After a few days, I didn't like that one element of the wallpaper, so I fixed it

Here's the old previous wallpaper for comparison:
