    Worked for me. I'm using Xubuntu 11.10, and this brought my boot time down from ~55 seconds to ~35 seconds, and my shutdown time from ~15 seconds to ~5 seconds. Not a bad improvement. I regularly switch between Xubuntu and Windows XP, so these times are fairly important.
