    Dell Inspiron 14R Suspend/Sleep Problems

Have ubuntu 11.10 installed on 14R m380 Dell Inspiron.

There seems to a problem where every 10 minutes the computer goes to sleep and the screen dims so that I must enter the password and then brighten the screen.

When plugged in the power is set to never go to sleep so something in the Dell BIOS (possibly?) is causing it to sleep after a mere 10 minutes of inactivity.

    Any solutions? thanks.

Look for options concerning screen lock, or lock screen. Your session can be locked without sleeping, and can also sleep without locking. You may actually want your screen to turn off at some point of inactivity, but it sounds like you don't want to have to unlock it every time it does.

Also, I agree, ten minutes is a small time, especially when sleep will crash an install, and a lock will kick you out of a live session. (because there's no password, so you can't log back in)
