    If you want VMWare in particular, then e79's suggestion is best. But if you are interested in virtualisation software in general, rather than VMWare in particular, I would suggest you check out VirtualBox at www.virtualbox.org. VirtualBox can do most of the stuff you'd get with VMWare and there are Free (as in speech) versions available.

    Of course, if you don't care about Freedom (liberation) I believe you can get free (gratis) versions of VMWare Player. I think.
