Update Manager activity log

1. Where can I find the the file(s) with Update Manager activity log(s)?

2. Specifically, this question is motivated by the need to review a particular line displayed on the Update Manager output screen during installation of missing updates on top of 10.10 release. The line referred to a missing java package or installation, not sure. It scrolled up and disappeared before I could understand it completely.
Should I go back, try to find the line, and install the missing package, or the Update Manager takes care of all the dependencies needed at the moment, and I should just ignore it?

Try from terminal

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

and see if you get any errors.If you do post output of those commands here.
