    Youtube crashing x

I'm running Kubuntu 10.04 with a xfce desktop because KDE became a resource hog in 4. Just starting this week Youtube seems to be crashing X monitor says no signal and powers off so I hit the reset button and cringe. It doesn't seem to do this on other flash sites, but I'm still investigating. This hasn't happened before. It does the same Firefox or Chrome. Any Ideas?
    Thanks Alvin ka9qlq

It's the exact same on Ubuntu (gnome) since this morning. And it may have gotten worse during the day. When it first happened I switched from "flashplugin-installer" + "flashplugin-nonfree" to "adobe-flashplugin". It seemed to solve the problem but an hour ago it started crashing again.

The last incident was an embedded youtube video which runs fine on the site but when I clicked it to got to youtube it crashed a few seconds after opening in youtube.

Right now I'm using Opera - can't take anymore crashes today

Well I hadn't "upgraded" anything. So what happened? Did Youtube change something? Does flash crash on other (like news sites)? Does Youtube work in Opra?

Just tested Opera on youtube again and crashed!!

It's not a browser thing. I'm beginning to really side with Apple about flash.

I saw somewhere that deleting cookies (not sure which but probably youtube ones) would solve the problem for some time but it would eventually come back.

Many flash problems are solved by disabling 'Hardware Acceleration' in the flash settings...

These particular settings can be found by right clicking on the flash video itself. Oddly enough not in most youtube videos! The following clip at the base of the page allowed me to change my settings:

    http://www.youtube.com/my_speed#

    Click on 'Show Test Video'...
