Acer Aspire One ZG8/Ubuntu 11.10 (No Wireless Connection)

Hello, after a clean install on my Netbook I am not able to connect to my home wireless; checking the option to enable wireless from the panel has no effect. Below is the information as advised to post. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Is this query likely to get a response? Is there something else I should be doing to help?

    Hi,

disable the hardware encryption of the driver:

    Code:
    echo "options ath5k nohwcrypt=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath5k.conf
    sudo modprobe -rfv ath5k
    sudo modprobe -v ath5k
    [ 15.216722] ath: Country alpha2 being used: 00
Which country do you live? There is a bug with the country code settings:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install iw
    iw reg get
sudo iw reg set DE # DE for Germany, change it to yours
    Check:
    Code:
    iwconfig
    iwlist chan
    sudo iwlist scan
    rfkill list

I've tethered my Galaxy to get internet access. I followed your instructions and re-installed iw but this doesn't seem to have fixed it yet.

Hi, it shows it is soft blocked you can try this.
    Code:
    echo "blacklist acer_wmi" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    Thanks

Hey, thanks for the suggestion but this has not solved the problem either. I've had so many problems with my Acer Aspire Netbook on Ubuntu I think I'm goint to go back to Mint... that seemed to work no problem (although there always appears to be display configuration problems on my netbook, but maybe they've resolved that by now) for my wireless. Disappointed though
