Wifi connection causing router to reset

    Hi,

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X201T and running the latest Ubuntu. The wireless has been connecting fine for a week now however I turned it on last night and as soon as it attempted to connect to my wireless router it caused the router to reset. I have looked at the settings on the router and have changed the channel but this hasn't fixed the problem. The router is from PlusNet so there is little scope to update firmware and suchlike.

Has anyone heard of this issue before?

Look forward to hearing from you

    Hello cs09aas

    Welcome to the Forum.

A little more clarification please. Who makes the router and what is the model. eg Dlink DIR615 - is the one I use.

Is the router restarting or going to factory settings?

The more info you can provide the better.

    Thank you.

Re: Wifi connection causing router to reset

    Hi thanks for replying,

The router model is Thomson 585 supplied by Plusnet.

The router is just restarting it does not go back to factory settings.

It only happens when I connect my Ubuntu laptop to the network using the wireless, it hasn't done it to any other wireless router. Sometimes it connects for a while then the connection drops, but mostly it causes the router to reboot constantly. My Win7 laptop does not cause this problem, nor does my BlackBerry.

Thanks, do you require any more information?

    Hi,

I am still having issues, have tried many things the only thing that cleared it was a reinstall of the OS. But the problem has reappeared after a few days.

Does anyone know of this problem?

Re: Wifi connection causing router to reset

I just bought 3 lenovo G585 for the office and the wireless does not work.
They came with FreeDOS, but the wi-fi gives no problems with Windows 7 but to use them on Linux, I must have them jacked to the lan.
