    With the "Examine locally" feature and now this, Apport is almost perfect. All that's left is automatic bug fixing.

    I'm really impressed, this is an amazing idea. I wonder how much % bug reports will decrease, considering it's potential to kill useless duplicates.

    anything that will help reduce the bug count will be welcome .There are plenty to go around without pages of dupes .
    if it ain't broke you haven't tweaked it enough

    I'd like to see a warning NOT to bother with a bug report (due to a crash, that is) until you've run the latest updates.

    Being required to upload ~38MB of core dump on a slow, bandwidth-limited connection, only to be told it's not usable, is, shall we say, a little annoying.

    Where's the best place to report this to?

    If you don't feel like uploading such a huge dump, don't do it. Chances are high it's useless anyways. I never upload stuff larger than a couple of MiB.

    Doesn't seem to be working yet any better than previously, maybe worse.

    I also wonder if it will work when the bug filed is a dupe of a private bug, atm still letting one file without any detection.
    (there is a current common Software-center bug that if filed will be duped after 30 min. or so.
    "software-center crashed with DBusException in call_blocking(): ..."

    Did get the notification on a nautilus crash of likely no importance, only interesting because the bug opened in FF for viewing was marked "invalid"

    Thanks for the tip.

    As I recall it, I don't think it gave me the choice. I figured that it knew what it was doing.

    Naturally enough, I'll not be doing that again. But I was thinking about people who don't know about it before it happens; it would be nice if they got a warning.

    I've got a message to that effect a few times over the last couple of development cycles.

    Then there is the companion message 'You idiot, this crash data doesn't apply to the version of X that you currently have installed.'. OK, it doesn't put it in those exact words but you get the idea...
