    Exclamation Regarding logging into Kubuntu

I am running xubuntu 11.10. However as xfce was gving me problems, I decided to install KDE. Now I have kubuntu-desktop package isntalled. I even have my login manager with the kde login manager. But I cannot login to KDE desktop. Then I installed gnome-shell and it works fine in gnome3.
Can anyone please help with running KDE. I tried running as root but I get a dialogue that root logins are not allowed. Suggest me some method to login.

    Re: Regarding logging into Kubuntu

You should not install kubuntu-desktop in Ubuntu/Xubuntu/Lubuntu, as kubuntu-desktop and ubuntu-desktop/xubuntu-desktop/lubuntu-desktop and their associated applications can conflict with each other. You should have just installed Kubuntu from the Kubuntu iso image, which you can download at the Kubuntu website.
Say no to Microsoft. Say yes to open source.
