    Re: Sound troubleshooting

I made it to the second part of step one in the Sound Troubleshooting Procedure: "If you upgraded ALSA using the command above...." and after rebooting, I found that I can no longer access alsamixer, whether from the command line or gnome mixer, and the sound still doesn't work. ALSA is installed and updated to the latest version.

Here's what I got after executing
    Code:
    wget -O alsa-info.sh http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh; chmod +x ./alsa-info.sh; ./alsa-info.sh

It looks like some drivers or something are missing here, but I don't know what to download to get them:

    Re: Sound troubleshooting

    Hi,

When I change the mic levels on the HDA Intel (ALSA mixer) Recording tab, the changes are not retained. Meaning, when I re-open the Volume Control, the levels are right where they were before (at zero).

    Help!

    Re: Sound troubleshooting

It seems that a lot of folks who follow the Sound Troubleshooting Guide end up with missing/borken kernel module..

    Re: Sound troubleshooting

I've just installed 11.10 and can't get audio working. Tried it with a 11.10 live CD and it wasn't working either. I've also maxed out the volume in ALSA mixer.

    My ALSA info:
    http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=9f...125efeecd9942c

What can I do to fix this?

Well... I just lost my audio. Followed both guides, but nothing worked.

    Re: Sound troubleshooting

    Hi,
I'd appreciate help getting my Delta 1010LT card recognised by ALSA, running Ubuntu 11.10.
When I first installed the card, ubuntu hung and wouldn't start, including the live CD.
Sound card is working under Windows 7.
So far I've tried disabling motherboard sound in BIOS and disabling serial port in BIOS in case of conflicts.
Now Unbuntu will start, but it seems card is not recognised by ALSA.
Running Envy24control gives No ICE1712 card detected.

    Please see info here:
    http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=ed...94050ec839d8b7

The sound card is not recognised by ALSA
I tried to get it to load the module snd_ice1712, but no difference.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Re: Sound troubleshooting

Hey, ive been having some audio trouble with my onboard audio.

    Using Ubuntu 10.04LTS
The mainboard in question is MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum (PCB 1.0)

As attachment ive added some off the command returns.

The problem is that ive got simply no audio whatsoever, when trying the guides at the start of this thread i run into the problem that it the package linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.32-38-generic-pae cant be found.
