I have been running Mythbuntu for several years, and I recently did a clean install of 14.04.
HDMI audio works fine in Mythtv, but I can't get it to work with anything else. I want to use VLC, XBMC, etc in addition to Mythtv.
I have a NVidia 610 video card.
In Mythtv setup, the audio device that works is ALSA:hdmi:CARD=NVidia,DEV=1
When I was running 12.04, I got all the audio working by setting the default audio device by using:
pacmd list-sinks
pacmd set-default-sink
When I run pacmd list-sinks in 14.04 i get
Code:

Then I used
pacmd set-default-sink 5
to set the default
aplay -L gives me this

I have made sure nothing is muted in alsamixer, I have tried many different setting combinations in PulseAudio volume control and still can't get this to work.
Weird thing is, 2 different times I got audio in XBMC and thought I had it fixed, but the next time I opened it I had no sound. I don't want to wreck the audio in Mythtv, so I hate to change much without getting some advice first. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem?
