    Re: Sound troubleshooting

    Hello!

I am some sort of a noob in Linux Audio so I`m hoping that my answer will be found among u people.
First of all, I am running Ubuntu 12.04 32 bit (3.8.0-33-generic) on a DELL Optiplex 755 machine (Intel Core 2 Duo, CPU E8400 @ 3.00Ghz x2 with 2Gb of Memory).

On this configuration I have plugg-ed an Yamaha 01v96i audio mixer. My problem is that the system recognizes the device (on [lsusb] command, the output is: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0499:5500 Yamaha Corp., and [sudo lsusb -v | less] outputs even more precise info about the device), but does not recognize it (in Jack or the system for that matter) as audio device nor a midi device. ([cat /proc/asound/cards] outputs only the internal sound devive).

Does anyone know if the device I am trying to connect is supported and if it is not, do I have the slightest chance to make it work.

I thank you in advance for your time.

    Re: Sound troubleshooting

I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed. The sound worked just fine until Rhythmbox appeared for no reason in the sound panel. After it's appearance the sound disappearad! aplay -l shows this:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: VT1705 Analog [VT1705 Analog]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 2: VT1705 HP [VT1705 HP]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
Does it mean that the sound is just muted somehow? alsamixer has everything unmuted and with volume. I didn't update anything! How could sound disappear and Rhythmbox appear on their own!? I didn't run Rhythmbox! Running of programs on their own is unacceptable.
