    SD cards

    Ubuntu does not recognise SD cards when I insert them. Are there any teminal commands i need to enter or something?

    Where are you inserting the cards, and are you sure the cardreader, if that is what you're using works OK? Is it a standard SD or SDHC card? The latter will not always read in a cardreader socket when an SD will do so without a problem.
