    Yeah and I remember it giving me an error about /input/mx518 not existing.

    It appears I finally got it working. Thanks detyabozhye!

    Quick question.

    In your Xmodmap example you had 32 buttons setup.

    I kept getting errors to get it down to 9, so I deleted most of the numbers and had:

    "pointer = 1 3 2 4 5 8 9 6 7"

    Then, my scroll wheel (mouse button 3 usually) was acting as my right click, so I switched the 2 and 3 around and now I have:

    "pointer = 1 2 3 4 5 8 9 6 7"

    My question is, does Mouse button 3 (click the scroll wheel straight down) work in Firefox, etc for the automatic scroller function that it does in Windows/Mac OS X? It's not working for me and I'm not sure if my pointer setting is correct. My two side buttons are working correctly, though.

    I've followed the Howto. Mouse is working flawlessly, BUT it doesn't work anymore with VMware. When i boot up a machine, I just get the pointer in the middle of the screen. Clicking works alright, but I can't move the pointer at all. I've tried setting the mouse to /dev/input/duop (which is my mouse device) with no success.
    Any ideas?

    I guess it's just the way it does it with the MX500, it's not supposed to have 32 buttons, but it does. As far as I know, both the MX500 and the MX518 are supposed to have 10 buttons.

    Just another bug, 1 2 3 ... is the correct way, but it swapped right click and middle click on my MX500 so I had to do 1 3 2 ...

    AFAIK, that's a Windows/Mac only thing, I've never seen it done on Linux, though I think it could be done.

    I don't have VMWare, so I don't know.
