    Re: nostalgia

Now if I can find my old Commodore Amiga stickers somewhere, I can load this on my netbook and put the old stickers on the outside.

The Amiga OS was the best desktop of it's day. I was editing video and doing full color pictures on it when other systems offered 16 levels of gray scale.

It also could truly multitask; I could format a floppy, play music and edit a photo all at once (and people were overwhelmed by that in those days). Now we take this for granted!

It is nice to see two of my beloved desktops meeting up like this.

I still think I will stick with straight Ubuntu (Ubuntu 12.04 is gonna be just awesome!!!!!!); but it is fun to see.

Look at all those flashing lights! I'll take one!

    Re: nostalgia

    It's quite good
It's responsive, even though it's using 456MB of ram at idle.
Nvidia driver installed ok and it's working well. Nice compiz effects
Conky is a bit out of kilter but can fix that I suspect.
Lots of stuff as standard. Installed it uses 8.04GB so it's quite a size.
    It's very blue

    Re: nostalgia

anything that comes on 2 dvd's probably wasn't intended to be a lightweight .
poking around in /etc/apt/sources.list it's based on maveric with add ins from mint10 commodore and 3 ppa's .
I wonder how it will handle a dist-upgrade that might be a real mess .
I think I'll keep this one around for awhile .
If you check appearences>backgrounds most of the alternatives are very green , obvious where they came from.

    Re: nostalgia

    Indeed, Mint/Maverick.
Backgrounds are either electric blue or very greeeeeeeeeeen, as you say ronacc
Compiz is a bit resource hungry with effects in use. Some effects are quite interesting
I've not even looked at commodore extras yet. Could that be the stuff available on the second dvd, do you think? I'll make some enquiries.
