    Unhappy Critical Fan Problems on a Asus notebook Ubuntu 11.04

    I have my Asus M50Vc to run windows and Ubuntu 10.10 upgraded to 11.04.
    The problem is when i go to Ubuntu after around 5 min my Fan starts to this really annoying growling sound, like the Fan is broken.
    If i restart into windows the sound continues, but after some time it fixes it self, never to hear from it again.

    Now i opened the Notebook and i took everything out cleaned the tubes and so on and so forth. I noticed that my fan is holding it self with a magnet to the base of where probably the electricity comes from, charges the magnet and the fan spins. I think that Ubuntu does not give enough voltage to the magnet so starts to fail, drops the fan just a bit and it grows on the metal casing.

    I have no clue how to fix this, trust me i tried but to me the problem appears to be Software not hardware.

    Thanks for the help in advance it will be really helpful i haven't used ubuntu for weeks now because it just F/s up my PC :{

    I have the same problem. I found a solution in the following URL

    http://linuxfloat.org/ubuntu-110fans...rling-too-fast

    It works on my ASUS laptop.

    That's great, now if only us mere unauthorized-though-we-signed-up mortals would know what to do...
