disk utility

I have used the disk utility that comes with Ubuntu to scan a external drive I have and it comes up with "not clean", the drive as been formated, any one tell me what's meant by not clean, in computer terms that is.

It means it was not unmounted/disconnected correctly due to a power issue or being unplugged incorrectly and has a "Dirty" filesystem.

Unmount it and use the "Check" function.

Have done that but still get the same message, is it any thing to worry about

Hi and welcome to the forums johntd

Please use a LiveCD to boot the computer and then post the results of the boot info script.

There is a link at the bottom of my post with instructions.

Many thanks for your time in helping with my disk issue, it now seems to behaving, i shall keep my eye on it in the future. many thanks again.
