No ethernet present, oh, but it is...
I'm running a dual boot system Ubuntu 11.10/Win7. I was connected with both fine using a wireless card. I needed the card in another computer so went wired. Win7 picked it up just fine but Ubuntu won't connect. I went into "network" clicked on wired and it says "no Ethernet connection present". Lights on switch port are out. As soon as I do a restart and go to Win7 the switch light for the Ethernet connection to my computer came back on and like I said Ethernet is working fine in Win7. Any thoughts. Any trouble shooting I attempt does not go far because it doesn't see the connection. Thanks.
Re: No ethernet present, oh, but it is...
Aren't there some tests to run. Either from GUI or terminal?
Is this in the wrong catagory...
or just a stupid question?
