Hi, your welcome! we do the best we can with the drivers and wireless devices we have to work with, I wish I could do more but that is all I know.
I increased my speed a lot just by using googles dns server and it is secure.
Thanks

Hi,
it was enough to make the speed and connection acceptable
Google's DNS won't make a difference to me as I don't browse the web with that computer.
It is just XBMC running on Lubuntu to make it start fast (installed version of the latest beta xbmc from xbmc.org). The Media Center only needs to stream sometimes and only connect to the internet for small addon downloads or upgrades.
Again thanks for the help, looks like you have helped many people in this thread already
Questionário
Hi I have a dual boot machine with 11.10 and win7. I use internet using wifi at my home.
Now my problem is that internet works just fine in win7. But in Ubuntu its really intermittent. Meaning the websites randomly take time to load. The response time is very slow. Its really annoying, when even Google takes like a min to load sometimes...
need some suggestions...

Hi, the wireless card you have is problematic in 11.10, there are a few things we can try but we have not had much success with your card in 11.10 lately.
Please do:
then go to the internet icon in the top right of the screen and click on it then click edit connection and ipv6 and set it to ignore, use the screenshot and set yours to look like mine.Code:echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" | sudo tee /etc/resolv.conf . /dev/null
Then reboot
Thanks

I have been facing the same problem with 11.04 too, and the driver that I have installed is not the default driver..I have downloaded and installed it myself as a suggestion from someone.
Regardless Im gonna try what you have suggested and let you know...

I just did what you said. Right now I don't see much of a change, randomly websites are still taking time to get resolved and open.
Also to try it out, I did speedtest on my connection. I did it for like 6-7 times, the results were totally random from 1/6th to 1/2 my actual speed and only showing me the true speed in the last one...
Thanks a lot for your help, let me know if there is any other way..

Hi, since you already tried a newer driver there is not much else to try.
I have read that this issue is fixed in 12.04 so I guess it will be best to wait until it comes out in April.
Thanks
I guess I'll have to wait for 12.04...Thanks for all the help..
Thanks
