ssh console colour

Not really a ubuntu question but ...

I sign on to many machines using ssh. Is there an easy way to change the colour of the background automatically to make me aware I am on a live site.

There's no elegant GUI method for implementing this, but there's a script here that apparently does it for you. There's also an older thread here on the forum about the same issue that has a few suggestions. I've never tried any of these suggestions before so I can't vouch for their reliability.
