Can't upgrade to Lubuntu using Lubuntu install CD or sudo

The install CD has the upgrade option shaded out. Using sudo while on Lubuntu live desktop says there's no release to upgrade to.

So how can I get this to work so I can upgrade to Lubuntu?

I'm trying to upgrade from Ubuntu 11.04.

If you want to upgrade Lubuntu, you have to have it installed first.

As I said, I was able to upgrade from Ubuntu 11.04 to Lubuntu 11.10 but now I have another problem- the desktop icons keep vanishing when I delete something.

Literally. I'm sitting here with an empty desktop.

Upgrading from Ubuntu 11.04 to Lubuntu 11.10? never heard about that.

I'd appreciate if you mention the steps you followed to do that.
However, I see you have a problem and I'm not surprised.

The BEST way is to go for Clean Install for Lubuntu 11.10 NOT to upgrade Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10.

Also, you may want to change your thread to "UNSOLVED"
