As a work-around, i'm glad it's working.

If you ever want to dig deeper and try to find the root cause of the problem then just shout. Not tonight though

can't force logout with this command. Needed to logout today and ubuntu wouldn't let me, so I tried this command in the terminal and it returned no results. Had to hit the dbus restart launcher to get out of it.

That's odd. It works in my 10.04 install. What version of Ubuntu are you using ?

11.10 - The command worked after a reboot, but I didn't need it at that point.

Maybe Ubuntu was just having a funny 5 minutes. Keep playing with the command and see if it works.
