Totally concur with this - Danger has jumped on board to help on a "security guide for newbies". He's been offering good constructive advice whilst highlighting the pitfalls in the approach that us newbies need to watch out for.

Comes across as a good guy, knows his stuff - and the fact that other names that I trust are vouching for him just seals the deal for me.

I'm a big fan of Dangertux. I truly appreciate his obvious dedication to security & in helping on the forum. If you're looking for "sustained and significant," you need only to take a glance in the Security Discussions. Most significant to me personally is this mega-thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1873643. That thread led to the BasicSecurity Wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BasicSecurity), which advanced my personal knowledge of Ubuntu & security immeasurably. I really don't know how you get more significant than that.

That and he's kind of a cool guy, too

Thank you both for the support

@Ms. Daisy - I'm glad that I have been helpful. On a side note... I don't think anyone has ever called me cool... I'm flattered

As always thanks again everyone. Even if I don't get membership, it's really nice to know that at least some of the stuff I've done here has helped someone in some way.

    +1.

I've already suggested that one of his posts should be on the official documentation.
