Netbook update manager still reports Oneiric as release candidate

Update manager on my main machine (AMD 64) has been showing "New Ubuntu release '11.10' is available" for a week or more. But my Acer netbook shows no such message, even though it is configured to offer "normal" releases.

On the netbook, I tried "update-manager -d" and it offered the upgrade. The release notes, however, state that Oneiric is only a release candidate. "Do not install it on production machines."

I upgraded a 32-bit VM to Oneiric through the Update Manager as a production release. Are netbooks a special case, somehow?

I upgraded one Dell laptop to 11.10 ages ago and now with my second one, I see the same message. The second one happens to be my work laptop, so I cannot disregard such a warning. It's not a laptop issue, and I have no idea what is behind it. Very confusing. Both are laptops were/are running 11.04 64 bit.
