    Oneiric 11.10 frozen cursor

I forgot that Compiz cube effects do not get on with Virtualbox, as a result everything fouled up. The cursor was not responding as normal and now the cursor is frozen.
I have tried to reset Unity to default but still have a frozen cursor on a SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad. (Acer Aspire One Netbook.)

    Any help to fix appreciated.

I have since tried an alternate OS (Linpus) and an Oneiric live USB and cursor is dead on all three, so it looks like a hardware problem. Will try and check the ribbon cable meanwhile.

All fixed, took 5 minutes, advice from here:-

    http://www.insidemylaptop.com/take-a...e-one-netbook/

    Remove the battery!

Not exactly the AOA ZG5 but removing the keyboard and the lock on the Wide ribbon was identical.

I also removed the very short narrow cable protruding from the palmrest/touchpad using the same kind of lock bar.

After reinserting both cables and the battery, 'Voila' the Touchpad and Curser are back
