    UbuntSoftware Center/debconf

    Hello

I've recently installed Xubuntu and I've noticed that when I run Ubuntu Software Center things slow down considerably and when I install something a window intermittently flashes up named debconf. Once the installation completes it ceases. Is this normal? Thanks.

Ubuntu Software Centre is resource-hungry. It will slow down older machines, especially with low RAM.

Try running Synaptic Package Manager instead. It's much faster.

The window that flashes happens to me quite often. It's never been a problem, so I don't worry about it; but I am curious what it means.
