    Nanny Parental Controls

    Hello guys,

I am new to this forum, but so happy to join you!

I have just installed Lubuntu 11.04 in my old PC and yeah it rocks! I have even wrote a blog about it (in spanish, sorry): http://www.aratic.es/wordpress/como-...con-lubuntu-i/

Uptadating to 11.10 was a bit boring because too many download breaks, but it is done right now.

BUT what I would like to ask you all is: have you tried to start parental control program NANNY? Console doesn't even show up.

Thank you in advance for your answer and regards,

    Vicente

I couldn't get "nanny" to work with Lubuntu but it did actually work on Ubuntu. I must do some search and see what's wrong.

A friend has told me about another option but PLEASE be informed that the project is dead and no longer supported. I don't recommend to use dead projects but it's your call.

I'll get back to you once I'll find something new

    Re: Nanny Parental Controls

I installed the program and tried running it from the terminal to see what error would be produced. I received something similar to what is in this bug report. Seems to be a problem with the program, but I'm not sure. You may want to keep track of that bug report if you want to know what the problem is.

Try using DNS blocking with ScrubIt.. Look them up with google.. You only need to update your router DNS to their free DNS entries.. It will block everything you need for parental control.

    Re: Nanny Parental Controls

Thank you all for your help.

I really want all my friends to use Lubuntu on their children computer, so I need a pretty user friendly parental control tool.

This is the only way for the parents to be able to protect the young minds of their children in Internet. Otherwise it would be the kids who take control of their parents!!!

Thank you again. Let's see if we can find a solution.
