Pulse Audio, skype voice calls and very fast talking

Hi Gang,

Just installed Ubuntu 10.10 a few days ago. Really liked using ubuntu for the last few years. I have a problem. I was on Skype with my Dad, he said I sounded like a chipmunk on speed. I did a skype test call, and my message played back at a very high speed. I think this might be a pulse audio problem, but am having a hard time finding a clear answer. This didn't happen with any previous Ubuntu versions I have used.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks for your suggestion. I just tested my webcam microphone (Logitech 9000 pro) with the sound recorder program in Ubuntu. The same chipmunk thing happened again. So I know this isn't just a skype problem.

I also tested the webcam mic in windows with Skype test call. The my voice came back normal. Again, I think this is about pulseaudio. Can I get in deep with microphone or pulseaudio settings through the terminal?

As before, any suggestions... anyone..?

I switched back to Ubuntu 11.04. the problem seems gone. I guess 11.10 has some odd bugs to work out.

I have the same problem, (chipmunks on speed audio). I was hoping someone would have found an answer to this problem by now. Going back to 11.04 doesn't sound like solving the problem to me.
