Launching Amarok with compiz causes screen to stop redrawing

Yea, this is a good fun time. So when I launch Amarok and the program actually starts my screen goes from redrawing once every 5 seconds to stopping all together. The strange thing is is that as soon as I ctrl-alt-f1 and kill amarok it starts redrawing again. I assumed this behavior was because amarok was crashing something else but that isn't the case because the problem is instantly resolved as soon as amarok is closed.

Anyone else experiencing this and/or fixed it?

damn, exactly the same problem. Upraged to 11.10 yesterday and the first time I brought up amarok everything froze. Had to switch to a terminal (ctrl-alt-f1) and kill amarok. Compiz and Amarok were the two top processes by CPU usage.
