    Purple "stuff" on screen

I sometimes get strange purple vertical "stuff" on screen. It oscillates slowly right-left-right and fades away. Usually happens when opening or maximizing Update Manager, Terminal or Opera.

I have seen no mention of this in the Forums, and it started as soon as I updated to Oneiric.

The "weed" comment would seem more likely, if it couldn't be captured in a screen shot... ahem

The first thing I thought of was an old CRT monitor going bad... makes me wonder if it's a setting having to do with the monitor itself. Next guess would be video driver issue...

You might try connecting to an external monitor and see if you get the same color banding, that will give more info....

    INTEL.
You may be having problems with your GPU; you wouldn't be the first one to have trouble with these drivers. Could be screen problems as well.
    Good luck!

Hmm. I get the same stuff on the external monitor.
So how would I set about checking the gpu and/or driver? Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks.
