According to http://lists.freedesktop.org/archive...ry/015076.html, it was "RC6 and deep RC6" (new rc6=3).

Yes, new rc6=3 is exactly the same as old rc6=1. (And with my tests rc6=3 shows no further (significant) improvements w.r.t. power usage.)

I will try 3.3-rc3 with Dodonov's patch without fixed DSDT and keep reporting.

An issue I had multiple times now is that the laptop shuts down when I remove AC power, but not every time. I can remember something like that a couple of pages earlier, what have those of you with this problem done to fix it?

I have not had this issue, but I believe the only confirmed workaround was to be sure to boot without AC connected. To me, this sounds like it should be related to the RC6 bug.

Marcus, have you found a solution to this, or are you just tolerating a buggy touchpad experience for now?

I tried that as well, but no luck.
Let's see what happens when I use the RC6 patch.

    edit:
What I forgot to ask is: are we supposed to turn IOMMU (that I just discovered is VT-d), KVM and whatever else on in the kernel?
I understand that VT-d in the BIOS is supposed to be on.

I have a UX31e with an Elantech touchpad.

Have you guys managed to make the pseudo-button on the bottom of the touch area working ? Also is it possible to drag by clicking with the physical button while moving with another finger on the touchpad ?

Also I was used to the gesture under windows (under firefox mainly), is it possible to get those back under Linux ?

Anybody could tell me what is your idle temperature?

Shutdown failed and I left my zenbook switched on inside the bag I'm worried that thermic paste could be damaged because of the temperature. So if thermic paste is damaged that should be reflected in the idle temperature.

Thank you Danners. I feel better now. Seems it's ok.
