Re: Ubunutu and the asus zenbook (UX31)

I just installed the ASPM script and for me ASPM gets disabled on standby for the Root Complex but not the Endpoint on both devices.
Is this happening for anyone else?

Another question: how do I check that ALPM is enabled?
I just created the file in /etc/pm/config.d/sata_alpm following the wiki page...

edit: I spoke too soon, it's not on every standby resume cycle, but only happened once until now. It would be interesting to know if this happened for anyone else though.

    Code:
    grep ALPM /var/log/pm-powersave.log
    could give you some info.

    Thanks, there it says
    Code:
Setting SATA ALPM on host0 to min_power...Done.
    o it's working.

Power usage dropped approximately 1W in idle when enabling both ASPM and ALPM. I'm not down to 5W yet, but maybe I'll find something else to enable...

The ALPM (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagementALPM) did not decrease my power usage, it increased it! What?!
From 6.06W > 6.08W with screen brightness set to minimum and no programs running on both tests.

    Why could that be?

Did you go for the ASPM power management? I've not done that yet, since I'm not sure on how to do it.

And one of my questions still remains; is is safe and OK to turn off watchdog, and how do I do that?

No change from ALPM for me either. 5.50 before, 5.51 after....

That's not an increase but rather statistical error...
I can't tell if it had any effect on my system because I enabled ASPM at the same time, but both combined decreased power usage by slightly under 1W.

    How to enable ASPM?

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like I already had it enabled.

    Hi all,

I am sorry I have not read all the pages since my last post, but has anyone found any workaround concerning the sudden shutdowns ??
I can't stand that anymore. It has occured three times today, and last week I have lost 1 work hour.
It is so getting on my nerves that I am about to smack it down to the floor
