I have an acer netbook running the netbook version of lucid. I ran it today, it was totally normal, did a system update via update manager (as always.) Shut the computer down, and when I turned it on again later, the entire side navigation panel disappeared! I can still open applications, I can still plug in a jump drive and have a window pop open, all of my files seem to still be intact, but what happened to the navigation panel on the left hand side??? Was this part of the update? How do I get it back? I like having things with that GUI, doing stuff with the terminal is a pain. (n00b)
I have already tried restarting, updating again, right clicking on the background and top bar, but there are no options when I click the background (right or left click.) It is not on autohide, the top left ubuntu icon is inactive.
Basically I have my desktop background, the top bar with the ubuntu icon (inactive) and the shutdown options on the far right of that bar.
I'm so confused.
