Exclamation Problem Recognizing USB Pen Drive

Hi Guys, I would appreciate if you could help me since Im kinda new with this things.
Whenever I plug my pen drive, I cant find it anywhere. When I go to System-Administration-Disk Utility my pen Drive appears there, but when I try to mount it, this appears:

Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is already mounted on /
    mount failed

I don't know what to do, Please Help.
    Thanks Guys

are you running from a USB device ? sda1 is usually the installed drive/partition which is why it says it is already mounted
