    network manager

Hi, am trying to use 11.10 64bit, but am losing the connection about every hour. I have to use "service network-manager restart" to regain the connection. I am using a wired ADSL modem, that works very well with 10.04 32bit + Pinguy 10.10 64bit. I did an upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10, but the OS stop working after a week or two. I formatted the partion and downloaded the iso, and reinstalled. This is on an Acer Aspire 5536 laptop, with an Broadcom corp. Netlink BCM5784M Gigabit Ethernet PCIe. I am still using the Unity desktop on 11.10. The network manager will lose the left chick menu, with the disconnect/connect options. I am on DSL. I would like to know if there is a fix for this, or if trying to reinstall the network-manager is the best course of action? Thanks Colin.
