Question 11.10 remove panel from unity or gnome-fallback

    Hi there,

How can I disable the sidebar as well as top panel in unity 11.10? Alternatively, how can I remove all panels in gnome classic/unity 2d? I'd like to be able to use AWN on its own but the notification area applet is conflicting with the notification area on the gnome/unity panel (which I can't seem to be able to remove).

    Thanks in advance for suggestions.

First thing I did in 11.10 was:
    Press <Mod4>+R
    Swear a lot.
    Press <Ctrl>+<Alt>+T
    Code:
    sudo apt-get remove unity
Then I restored my terminal hotkey to <Mod4>+R

Typing that line in Terminal should rid you of Unity and it's ridiculous sidebar.
I'm still trying to get rid of the ridiculous menu bar at the top of my desktop though. [File Edit View Go Bookmarks Help]
