Wifi fixed now but speed is TOO slow.

Ubuntu forums page takes 15-30 seconds to load. Nothing downloading in background. Speed in win 7 is faster. I use ubuntu 11.04.

Can you help me to diagnose the problem. I use a realtek wifi card.

I would recommend taking a look at this thread. Setting the right MTU may increase your browsing experience.

Sorry to reply so late. That does not work. I keep on getting a "bad packets...." error when i type the first command on that thread. I used lot of values in place of that 14XX, and always got the same error.

    Wifi is getting disconnected frequently

I managed to make wifi work, but it is getting disconnected again and again. Please tell me the possible cause and how to make it work. My wifi is ok in win 7 though.
Also, the speed is too slow as i mentioned in another thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...2#post11339842

I use ubuntu 11.04 with win 7 dual boot and realtek wifi card.

    Rishi,

Please enter the following commands in a terminal one-by-one and post back their outputs here:

(do a couple of minutes' browsing first)
    Code:
    ifconfig -a
    iwconfig
    sudo lshw -C network
    lsmod
Please wrap each set of outputs in different [code]..and..[/code] tags (by clicking on the # symbol at the top of edit box, and pasting the output in between the generated tags) for better readability.

No, none of these outputs ever contain any sensitive data which may be exploited by anyone for privacy violation or any other kind of harm. Be assured on this one.

Onto your problem. Nothing seems wrong to me with your wireless connection. In fact, it is your ethernet interface whose details ring a bell to me:

This hardware-driver combination is infamous for speed and packet-drop issues on wired connection. If you find yourself struggling with a wired connection too, this post may hopefully be helpful: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...81&postcount=6

However, I don't think it may interfere with the wireless connection. So I may have to do some research on your wireless issue before I can come up with something significantly helpful. For now, please post outputs of:
    Code:
    cat /etc/resolv.conf
    ping -c 4 google.com
    PS:
Please wrap your outputs in [code] and [/code] tags as I told earlier.
