    Anyway to change theme colours?

In Gnome 2 you could right click the Desktop, change desktop background, theme & customize, to change the Desktop colour scheme.
Is there any tool to do this in Gnome 3?

Re: Anyway to change theme colours?

It seems there are only the two options.

I took another look at xfce and found I could set it up to be very similar to the layout that I had and loved from gnome2. Of course then I somehow borked my system so I'll be installing from scratch again soon.

Install the Gnome Tweak tool from the software Center , it will appearer as advanced settings in dash .

As for installing themes and icons , I have been extracting the packages and placing the folders in File System > USR > Share > Icons or Themes .

    Thanks for your replies.
Ive tried xfce before, just doesn't do it for me.
I already have gnome tweak tool & themes installed, but is there anyway to tweak the themes colours, like in gnome 2? or are you just stuck with the preset themes?

Ok , I know what you are asking about . I don't think there is a way to do that with Unity and I have not tried the shell yet . I see the gnome color chooser and some other tools in the software center .

I've got the same problem, want to change the theme colours on gnome 3, ubuntu studio 11.10. Anyone managed to do it? The advanced settings (gnome tweeks) do not do this.

Re: Anyway to change theme colours?

Folks have managed to tweak colors by editing (by hand and by trial-and-error) a bunch of .css files and something called settings.ini.

Apart from gnome tweak tool, gnome color chooser is also helpful for some things. Can't be more specific now since I'm not at my regular PC but there are quite a few posts on the topic.
