debootstrap error "failed to determine the codename for the release" in hd-install

Hello. For a long time I've been installing subsequent Kubuntu releases using an appropriate GRUB entry and the initrd and vmlinuz files from:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/<version>/main/installer-<arch>/current/images/hd-media/

But now that Oneiric has been released, I find that I can no longer do the same because I am getting an error as follows:

Debootstrap Error "failed to determine the codename for the release"
Step "Install the base system" failed

I searched older posts but none of them seem to relate to Oneiric.

I have not configured a network as I do not wish the installer to download latest updates during installation.

Can anyone please help me?
