    Community Council Nominations and Poll

    The Community Council nominations and poll will remain open for voting until October 14, 2011, 12:00 UTC. All Ubuntu Members should have already received an invitation to vote.
    The Ballot (in no particular order) includes: Daniel Holbach, Elizabeth Krumbach, Emmet Hickory, Charles Profitt, Laura Czajkowski, Amber Graner, Martin Albisetti, Milo Casagrande, Scott Ritchie, Philip Ballew and Joe Barker.

    Ask the Ubuntu Server team

    Ubuntu 11.10 Planned Release Parties

    According to the LoCo directory there are currently 33 releases parties planned to celebrate the Ubuntu 11.10 release. Included in this count are 169 people from 24 LoCos representing 21 countries. To find a release party near you or add your teams party (if it's not already there) check out the LoCo directory.

    Ubuntu Cloud Portal: Ubuntu Powers HP Public Cloud

    During the OpenStack conference last week in Boston, Massachusetts, Canonical CEO Jane Silber announced during her keynote that HP choose Ubuntu to power their Public Cloud. In the press release, Ahmed Kamal notes that both companies are committed to open source and have embraced the OpenStack community.

    Michael Larabel, Phoronix, writes, "This article is looking at that the Intel AES-NI acceleration with Ubuntu eCryptfs home encryption. Testing was done with an Ubuntu 11.10 daily snapshot from 5 October 2011. For simplicity, the same HP EliteBook with an Intel Core i5 2520M (Sandy Bridge) with Intel 160GB X-25 SSD was used for this AES-NI comparison."
