    check https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OneiricReleaseSchedule
Well I don't get too excited.

I keep 10.04 Lucid Lynx LTS around for things that don't work on Oneiric like:

Wireless on this IBM T40 Thinkpad. Connects with Narwhal and Oneiric, then disconnects a minute later. Yes there's a launchpad bug entered, however my wireless setup skills aren't up to the task.

Ocelot "Browse Network" is marginal at best on three of my four test pc's. Works fine on my Aspire 5253 notebook. All four set up identically, and works fine on Narwhal on all four.

I'm bouncing back and forth between Narwhal and Ocelot comparing them. Likely I'll replace the Narwhal with the totally unstable Pangolin .... and still keep Oneiric and 10.04 Lynx for what doesn't work on the newer ones.

People, remember to use torrents to get the new release (if possible) as to lessen the load on the servers. So far 11.10 has been a joy to use. A few weeks ago I had some issues with it, but updates took care of those. Looking good!

I've been tripped up a few times trying to configure Oneric with my I7 notebook. (Graphics switching setup). Oneric looks great! Can't wait.

Ubuntu helps validate my decision to avoid OSX.

Fresh install not required unless you tweeked a load of config files and you can't remember what you did. Just keep it up to date.

Canonical tucks it away on a back page.

In case I want to use a torrent to download the new release when it's official where is the back page? Is it as complicated to get to as understanding the Dylan song?
When in doubt, check it out!

If all else fails, check the plug!
