Try these steps
1. Umount/unplug the external drive.
2. Plug the drive back in. Wait for 5 seconds.
3. Type
4. Post that back here.
That should give us all the messages about the drive when it is discovered.

yeah I had it plugged in during boot, the same messages were in the previous just further up, i had to do a dmesg for 200 lines and I saw the same stuff.
