Somebody merged a thread on "Steve Job's legacy" with an other thread that had been closed even before that new thread started, effectively locking the new thread as well.

I guess that was unintentional (unless Steve Job is now a taboo subject ?), maybe one of you should check.

IMO we have had to do a lot of moderation on the various Steve Jobs threads.

At a minimum I think we need a cool down period.

If the community can not discuss SJ in a mature manor we will need to close the topic.

that may be so, but in this particular case, a thread got merged (as in : clean up duplicate threads) and the lock could very well be an (unintential) side effect, as the target thread happend to be already locked (hours before the merge).

If it was an intentional lock, i'd expect the thread to show "locked" rather than "moved" -- that's why I asked.

I've re-opened it - how long it's open (or, more likely, how quickly it's closed again) depends on participants.
