Hi guys. 1st time posting long time reader.
i keep getting this in terminal while trying to install wine.
dpkg: status database area is locked by another process
i did try to install this by typing the command lines for terminal for feisty before i realiesed they were for feisty and not dapper drake. (jumped the gun a bit) The command lines are these 1s found at the top of this pagehttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/WineForAMD64
What can i do to insatll wine?
Thanks, Ron
You may want to remove that repository. You can edit the apt list at /etc/apt/sources.list
will open it in admin mode so you can edit it.Code:gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
dpkg: status database area is locked by another process
Means that some other application that installs programs is open. For instance , using dpkg while having synaptic open.

Thanks in advance, Ron
Anybody? Ive checked to see if the files downloaded correctly. I have made sure i change the typing in terminal to mirror the file name and i have the location right.
