Thanks for looking here. My problem fairly simple: I've got a game (RuneScape) which can run under a few different graphics modes; Safe mode, Software, OpenGL, DirectX; the game is run in Firefox using the Java plugin (IcedTea) and my graphics card supports OpenGL and Software mode only. You may double-check my computer specifications if you wish, they can be found at the pastebin link in my sig.
The game also has a bunch of effects you can add. The game can be played in a variety of different scenarios, ranging from the bare bones version of the graphics (which are nightmarish) to a somewhat better environment with dynamic shadows, lighting effects, textures, etc. I am only able to run the game with all of these effects playably in Software Mode, which is not smooth. If I try to select OpenGL, the game will run smoothly for about a quarter second at a time and then freeze for 10+ seconds at a time, signifying that not enough memory is allocated for it to use.
So, my question is, is it possible to modify the IcedTea plugin, Java, or the game so that more memory is usable by the applet?
