stuck on gimp tutorial

im stuck at step 15, it says selection from alpha but when i right click it doesn't have that option.

At that point it won't help. I agree that there is an alpha channel missing somewhere, but just adding an alpha channel here will create a fully opaque channel. The alpha channel should have been added from the beginning (step 3 says "We’ve now got a hand on a transparent background"....) Note to the OP: if you have kept the path or the selection mask from step 2, you may be able to reuse it after adding the alpha channel.
