Need a bashscript for PING UDP

I wanna create a command that is quite similar to ping but via UDP.
    Terminal command:
    ping-udp < server address>:<port address> or ping-udp <server name>:<port address>

The return value must include RTT( round trip time).( should be similar to ping via icmp)
I'm pretty much a newbie at socket programming.
Thanks very much for any suggestion.
Anyone wants to be friends with a Vietnamese? Here's my skype name: dangtranngu89 and my gmail: ngu.dangtran. My hobbies are new techs, manga and Ubuntu.
