How to set where Windows open on the screen?

Is there an option for this? Nautilus and the terminal, to name two, open where ever they like and its never the same place. So I always have to move them to the middle of the screen.

    Ubuntu 11.10

    Thanks guys

Install CCSM (CompizConfig Setting Manager). Click on Window Management on left side. Click "Place Windows", then "Placement Mode". Choose centered from the drop down. Make sure you enable it.
