Xperia Mini Pro not detected

Hi,
Yesterday i bought the all new xperia mini pro from sony.
But unfortunately when i try to connect the phone to my ubuntu, Its not detected.It looks like i will have to install W7,But i still hope there is a work around this situation.
Please help ...

What are you trying to do? Mass storage or sync contacts?

Did you choose Mass storage from USB connection menu in your Xperia?

Thanx for the help.
But the actual problem was with my USB port , when i adjusted the port and cable , the phone was detected now i am able to surf the internet with the phone and transfer the files.
Any help on xperia mini or mini pro will be solved
feel free to post.
